The Quest is a passion project that students from Grade 8 get involved in for 3 terms. It’s an exciting opportunity for students to delve deeply into an idea or passion of their choosing, create a project, and develop their entire process into a TED style presentation at the end of the school year, in June.
It sounds exciting! What’s the catch? The Quest project has to relate to either the idea of sustainability or social justice, but that’s one of the only restrictions. Students also need to submit a blog post once a week to document their process – and that is archived right here.
What we think is so great about The Quest is watching students grow as independent learners, taking responsibility for their own creation, and developing their organisational skills, as well as their presentation skills. This is not about the end product (though that’s always a fun thing to celebrate) but rather, this is about the journey. I know that may sound cliche, but it’s true! So take on your Quest, Grade 8. It’ll be with you for life.
